Ledgenear Farm's
June Newsletter

We are joining the Audubon Bird-Friendly Maple Program!
In July Audubon VT will be visiting our sugarbush to look for bird habitat features. We will be provided with management strategies that will help maintain and improve the bird-friendliness of our sugarbush over time. These efforts will benefit nesting songbirds such as Scarlet Tanagers, Wood Thrushes, and Black-throated Blue Warblers.

We attended the Orleans County NRCD plant sale and conservation fair in May, sharing our conservation story while selling maple syrup, beef, and yarn. We are participants in the 2026 Marketing Conservation Program through NRCD.
Check out the Orleans County Natural Resources Conservation District HERE to learn more about their work.

Calving Season is Upon Us
Six calves have now been born on the farm and more are due throughout the summer. Pictured here is the newest calf, a Charolais-Angus cross.

The cows are now outside and grazing the pastures.

We are anticipating the birth of a cria this summer, and bringing some new alpacas to the farm.
It's Almost Time for Cropping
Soon we will be cropping, putting up the first cutting as silage that will feed the cows this winter.

After many hours of hard work the new upgrades to our pack and ship space are complete. With a new walk in freezer we are now able to carry more burger and steaks!
